Our Fringe experience

24 WEEKS - ASSOCIATE PRODUCER

We came across Tatty Pants Theatre Company during the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe. Their work was of excellent creative standards but we believed that production-wise they weren’t maximising the potential for what their work could achieve at Fringe. We began conversations in late 2024 about bringing an updated version of the show to the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe. We put them in touch with all the major venue providers to help them understand their options and find a timeslot and venue that best suited their needs.

We talked through all of their options and the associated deal structure with them to help understand the pros and cons of each possibility and give them a firmer understanding of the choice they were making and the associated practical consequences. Once this was sorted, we offered the company advice and support on fundraising, marketing, press engagement, industry engagement and timescale planning for before, during and after the festival.

During August, we engaged more closely with the company, supporting them in a number of ways from boosting morale, printing stars from reviews, identifying networking opportunities and tackling unforeseen issues with their venue, taking advantage of being Edinburgh-based and our knowledge of the city to more easily and efficiently deal with challenges.

Following the run, we held a reflection meeting with them in which we discussed the run and potential next steps for the show based on what they’d learned and gained from their Edinburgh Fringe experience. Working with Tatty Pants Theatre Company was a true delight and inspired us to give this sort of bespoke support to other emerging artists and companies looking to make their mark on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

THE COLLIE’S SHED - PRODUCER

We came across The Collie’s Shed during the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe. Their work was of excellent creative standards and we wanted to support the next stages of the play’s journey as the producing company. After discussions with the lead artist and applying for a number of opportunities, we decided that the best thing for the show was to return to the Fringe in 2024.

We secured an attractive venue deal that matched the lead artist’s time-slot and capacity preferences. We arranged associated marketing for the play as well as securing reviewers for the show. We liaised with the venue to ensure all logistics requirements were met. During August, we supported the creative team by taking care of everything to do with the play beyond the work on stage, ensuring that they were able to focus on delivering their best possible performance day after day. This included engaging with venues across Scotland with a view towards arranging a tour at the beginning of the following year. Following the run, we held a reflection meeting with the artist and followed up with venues to get the tour booked in and confirmed, leading to several performances of the show across early 2025. As a show we produced, this was a different sort of engagement to the offering presented here but it gives an idea of our experiences delivering the services we outline on this page.

WHY CHOOSE US

Fin first engaged with the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a flyerer for Dyad Productions in 2015, Having lived and breathed the festival for that initial 4 weeks, Fin was hooked and immediately knew he wanted to return.

The following year, Fin returned to Dyad, taking on more responsibility on venue engagement and press response. A few years later, Fin returned to the Fringe with Molodyi Theatr London to perform ‘All That Remains’. This show marked Fin’s first and only experience performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

In 2022, Fin worked on the Edinburgh Fringe Show with Ewan Spence, giving Fin his first and only experience of covering the Fringe as press. In 2023, Fin produced ‘The Collie’s Shed’, a drama about the Miners’ Strike which had a critically and commercially successful run at Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose which led to a national tour.

In 2025, Fin supported Tatty Pants Theatre Company to bring ’24 Weeks’ to Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose, an amazing experience which inspired him to set up Fringe Fairy Godfather as part of the Island Life Productions Offering.

During Fin’s 10 years of engaging with the Fringe, he has worked with most venues, met hundreds of artists and seen hundreds of shows (in the weirdest of spaces). He’s seen and experienced Fringe first-hand from a number of different perspective and is ready to help you make your Edinburgh Fringe campaign as successful as possible.
